LENS COATINGS/TREATMENTS

UVR Coating
UVR coatings are lens treatment or filter that block out harmful Ultra Violet Radiation (UVR). This invisible radiation from the sun causes cancer, premature cataracts, retinal and corneal damage. UVR treatments can be applied to lenses that do not naturally absorb 100% UVR and the coatings leave no color or tint on the lens.

Scratch Resistant Coating (SRC)
SRC are lens treatments applied to the lens surface that do not scratch as easily as uncoated lenses. Of course nothing is 100% scratch proof. SRC are a must for children and others that may be harder on their eyeglasses. SRC coatings leave no color or tint on the lens.

Anti-Reflective Coating (ARC)
ARC are lens treatments applied to the lens surface that allows more light to pass through (up to 99% versus 90%), reduces glare and reflections and are more scratch resistant. AR lenses are perfect for night driving because they eliminate “ghost images’ from car head lights and street lamps. Because of the increased light reaching the eye, vision is improved and more comfortable

Transitions® Lenses
Transitions Lenses® provide comfortable vision in varying lighting conditions. These photochromic lenses darken for sunwear when you step outdoors and lighten to virtually clear when you go indoors. In addition, these changeable lenses offer better visual acuity and protection from harmful ultra-violet rays (UVR). Transitions® Lenses are available in gray and brown.

Polarized Lenses
Glare comes from light that streaks across flat surfaces like glass, water, wet roads, snow and ice. Glare occurs more often earlier and later in the day when the sun is rising and setting. Polarized lenses are perfect for blocking out glare because of the filter inside the lens. This polarized filter selectively allows certain light to pass through the lens. Light that causes glare is blocked out, therefore the vision is more comfortable and colors are more vivid.  No more squinting! The lenses can be brown or gray in color and there are fashion polarized lenses available too.

Tints
Tints are dyes or treatments that add color to the lenses. Tints are applied to plastic and high index lenses by submersing them in a heated dye bath. They can be dark for sunglass, light and fashionable for everyday wear and all other depths of color in between.
